On Friday, 20th March, we witnessed a partial (85%) eclipse of the sun.
Here, in the North West, we saw the eclipse at around 9:30am and pupils will out in force to see what will be the last solar eclipse for 16 years.
Here are a selection of photographs taken during the eclipse, the bulk of which are thanks to Mrs Conway's husband who kindly came along to record the event.
A group of Year 10 and 11 pupils visited London for the day on Saturday 22nd November.
After travelling through the sights, our first stop was the Tate Modern Art Gallery on the Southbank of the Thames. Inside the huge gallery we were able to see and experience a broad variety of key pieces of both historic and contemporary art work close up.
Our next stop was the bustling Covent Garden, where the festive season is well underway. Here we saw street performers, musicians and real reindeers and made the most of the vast array of shops and stalls. With presents bought and souvenirs collected it was time to eat!
On to Planet Hollywood! Here we were welcomed with our own special messages, good food and good music! A fun end to a great day!
Thank you to local resident, Frank Littler, who has sent us a selection of photographs from the service held at the new Orrell war memorial on Tuesday, 11th November 2014. Our pupils were there representing the school and Mr Littler comments that their attendance was "especially rewarding".
