Ski Trip 2018

Following the enormous success of last year's skiing holiday to the USA, and the continued interest from a large number of pupils, we are planning to run a similar skiing trip to America in 2018

The ski trip is being organised through 'Equity', a travel Company we have used before who specialise in school trips. Equity is fully ABTA/IATA/ATOL bonded and a member of the School Travel Forum.

The trip will be to Killington, Vermont U.S.A. (www.killington.com) with a stop-over in New York between Thursday, 15th February and Friday 23h February 2018

The cost of the trip will be £1440, including direct flights from London Heathrow to New York and transfer by coach to the hotel, together with 6 night's half-board accommodation at the Mountain Inn. The Mountain Inn is well located at the base of Killington Mountain and the lifts are only a 5 minute walk away or a 2 minute shuttle ride. The hotel has excellent facilities, including a giant screen TV room, cosy den, games room, outdoor heated pool and hot tub, sauna and weights room. Pupils will be accommodated four to a room (sharing two Queen Beds). Rooms are en-suite with cable TV. We will be served a continental buffet breakfast and 3 course evening meal daily.

Pupils will be on the slopes for 5 days and be involved in ski school for four hours a day, receiving friendly and appropriate tuition from qualified American instructors. Equipment, lift passes and ski helmets are also included in the price.

Many pupils will be interested in the shopping available during the holiday, as the U.S.A. is renowned for excellent deals on most major sports and designer names. We will spend half a day shopping at Premium Outlets which boasts over 80 stores.

Pupils will be involved in a number of evening activities including bowling, disco and the cinema.

Finally, as part of this trip, we will spend two days and a night in New York. Whilst there, we will have dinner at the 'Hard Rock Cafe' on Times Square, visit the Empire State Building for the most amazing view of the New York skyline at night and a city tour taking in all the major sites.

Current Years 9 and 10 will have priority, as this is their last chance to go on the trip. They will receive the letter a couple of days before the younger years: if places still remain then the trip will be opened up to the whole school. Please note that this trip normally sells out on the first day. Should numbers exceed places available on the first Monday, then names will be drawn out of a hat. After the first day, places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and must be handed directly to Mr Ashton. Reply slips will only be accepted at lunch time in the Sports Hall from 12:50pm on Monday, 17th October 2016

Below is a guide to the payment schedule should you wish to secure a place. Al monies, except the deposit, are to be paid into the school office

It is very important that payment is made on or before these dates as we have a payment schedule with the booking company. Overpayments can be made at any time.

Please note that once a place has been confirmed, the deposit and subsequent balances are strictly non-refundable. This applies even f the school decides that, because of misconduct/poor attitude on the part of your son/daughter, it would not be appropriate for him/her to take part. Signing the reply slip enclosed with the letter indicates that you understand, accept and support this policy and will make no claim against the school if it is applied. Please do not sign the form otherwise. Your son/daughter will only be allowed to go on the trip if the reply slip is signed.

Skiing is a physically demanding sport and requires a good level of fitness, so please bear this in mind.
