"Dear Year 11,

I hope you are all ok and enjoying your well-earned rest and taking opportunities to do things you might not have had chance to during lockdowns and revision time.

Please see the link below about the Results and the Appeals process for the GCSE and other exams this summer. Please take time to read it and get in touch if you have any queries. I have also included the JCQ guidance on Appeals which explains the process and gives you the two forms required for the two stages of the Appeals process. As explained in the letter this request MUST come from the student, not the parent, and you must sign to say you understand that at each stage your grade can go down as well as up.

For Results Day on 12th August, we have decided to issue the results electronically as we did last year because any form of in-person results day risks bringing together groups of people who would not otherwise mix. Under the current regulations and with Coronavirus cases expected to be very high in August, if you were identified as a contact or caught Coronavirus this would mean isolating for 10 days and would spoil your and your families' plans for August. I am sure this is disappointing but hope that you also understand the reasons for it. Other schools may make a different choice, but is one that has been left to each school and we have thought carefully about the pros and cons. Staff will be available on 12th August in school for either face to face meetings or on Teams as explained in the letter.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer, and that results day brings you the grades you need to take the next steps of your journey. All things being well, we are planning to see you at the Prom in September and to celebrate your results and achievements with you.

With very best wishes,

Mr. McGlown"
